We Protect Us

Marginalized communities are likely to be under attack from everywhere. Trump has almost guaranteed the legal and judical system will be weaponized against his perceived enemies. His pledge to pardon the January 6th participants is not only a sanction for right-wing, reactionary, political violence, but also a way to send a message to; refugees, immigrants, the LGBTQ+ community, communities of color and their allies.

The communities under attack, and their allies, will need to be able to defend themselves on many levels. There are physical components, armed and unarmed. There is a digital component, activists will have to be able to keep their data and communications secure.

This site is a resource for individuals and groups who want to be able to protect themselves and their communities.

Who Am I?

I am an unlikely activist. The white, male, cishet, offspring of a two-tour Vietnam Veteran and a good Irish Catholic girl should not be making a site like this. Perhaps growing up in a predominately African-American community shaped my views. My parent's letting me read whatever I wanted gave me unique perspectives. Being part of the first generation to have access to the internet gave me another way to learn and express ideas.

I have been part of the "boots on the ground" for many issues. I marched against the war in Iraq, stood with "Occupy" and "Black Lives Matter" and now stand ready to resist the reactionary, right-wing authoritian state Trump and Musk wish to create.

My interest in community defense may stem from an interest in self-defense. I trained in Kenpo Karate while on an internship, and studied Aikido on and off for a few years. My efforts have taken a new dimension with my training alongside the local chapter of the Socialist Rifle Association. The digital component stems from my computer background; I have a bachelors degree in computer science, multiple information technology certifications, and a graduate-level certificate in Cyber Security.
